Beyond the Job Title: Designing a 2026 Vision That Fits Your Life

The Problem with Standard Goals: Most professionals set goals like “Get a $10k raise” or “Become a Senior Manager.” While these are fine, they are one-dimensional. A job title is a destination, but a Vision is an ecosystem.

The “December 2026” Exercise: Fast forward 12 months. You are sitting at your desk (or on your patio) ending your work week. Ask yourself:

  • How do I feel? (Energized? Secure? Creative?)
  • What does my daily schedule look like?
  • Who am I working with?
  • What problem am I solving?

Defining Your North Star: Once you have the feeling, work backward to the goal. If your vision involves “more autonomy,” your 2026 goal might be to transition into a consultant role or pitch a remote-work arrangement.

Clarity Beats Quantity: It is better to have one goal that changes your life than five goals that just keep you busy. This week, strip away the “noise” of what the industry says you should want. Focus on the one shift that would make everything else easier or unnecessary.
