There is always something to do around the house. Laundry. Dishes. Decluttering. As a widow, an empty-nester, and someone who works from home, I manage everything myself, and it never stops.
If I waited for my house to be spotless, I’d never get anything done. The same goes for job searching.
You don’t need an empty house or a free day to make career progress. You need small, focused effort:
- Apply to one role
- Message one old colleague
- Watch one webinar
Give yourself permission to make progress in imperfect conditions. If your dog barks during a Zoom interview, you’re still a professional. If you send an email in yoga pants, you’re still taking action.
Progress doesn’t come from perfection; it comes from persistence.
