One of the things that helps me most in my business is treating it like the living, breathing system it is. I track my client progress. I set goals each week. I use my calendar like a roadmap.
When you’re in a job search, you need the same structure.
Otherwise, you’ll find yourself wondering what you did all week, and not in a good way.
Every Monday, I sit down with my calendar and ask myself:
- What needs to happen this week?
- What am I working on for clients?
- What can wait, and what can’t?
I color code, time block, and set deadlines.
For job seekers, I recommend you treat your search like a part-time job. Start with 10 hours a week. Break that time into buckets:
- Research
- Applications
- Networking
- Upskilling
- Follow-ups
And here’s the most important part: track your efforts. Use a spreadsheet, a journal, or a task manager. Write down where you applied, when you followed up, who you talked to, what you learned.
That visibility builds momentum. You start to see progress. You get to say, “Yes, I did something that matters today.”
You don’t need to do it all. You just need a system that works for you.
